1 Month Old!

I cannot believe that Madelynn is already four weeks old today!! Here she is today in her cute purple outfit going to visit Grandma Schultz at work. The other is in her swing - see that mischevious look in her eye? Her Daddy makes the same one!! We're in trouble...

Happy Father's Day

Matthew got to celebrate his first official Father's Day! Madelynn made him breakfast in bed and sat with him while he ate. Then she gave him a dremel tool to help carve his chess pieces - he was very excited. She was very tired, so the sleepy photo is how she spent the later part of Father's Day at Grandma & Grandpa Girrbach's. She looks like a little angel!!

Sleeper!

Let me tell you - this girl can sleep! Its great at night, don't get me wrong, but I swear that my breast milk has magical sleeping powers because she falls asleep 9 out of 10 times she eats. These pictures are some cute positions she sleeps in and just a couple funny faces...

At home...

Can you tell we like her? Seriously, the camera is always on hand to capture her first moments. Here are some pictures from home this weekend. Its amazing how much they change in just a few days. She loves to sleep in all sorts of cute positions - usually pretty sprawled out if she's on her back. Our first night was pretty rough - we took hour long shifts holding her from 3:30 on because she would fall asleep for like 10 minutes and wake up screaming. Even though she latched on really well in the hospital, that first night home she was not interested in feeding from me - I think because my milk hadn't come in yet she was just not getting enough and was frustrated with the whole thing. First time Mom didn't even think - she's hungry just give her a bottle of formula!! She'd had hardly any wet diapers either, so we called our fantastic pediatrician in the morning who gave us some great tips. Now she's sometimes interested in feeding from me and sometimes not, so we've always got a bottle of my milk on hand just in case. Things have gone much better the last two nights though - she's up about every 3 hours to eat at night and every 2-3 during the day. First thing in the morning and around 9pm she's wide awake and loves to just be talked to - I think those are my favorite times of day. Seriously - I didn't know it was possible to love someone so very much!!

She's Here!

Well, after my being dialated to 4cm for about 3 weeks, Madelynn finally decided to arrive - not after one final stubborn act. I was scheduled for induction on Tuesday the 29th - same as her Uncle Chad's 21st birthday. He was all pumped that she was going to be born on his birthday, but little miss decided that she wasn't going to be told what day to be born! I was hooked up to pitossin at 6am...taken off around 6:30pm because my contractions were super mild (even though they had the pitossin cranked all the way up). The doctor had decided to try again Wednesday morning at the same time, so we spent the night at the hospital. Matt went home around 4am to take a shower and let the dog out because he couldn't sleep and not a half hour after he left my contractions started all on their own! I called him around 5:00 and was like "I"m having contractions on my own and they really hurt and they feel pretty close together." I think he freaked a little because I saw him within 10 minutes showered and ready to go! Madelynn was born at 2:28pm - perfectly beautiful and healthy - weighing in at 10lbs 12oz. My most common comment was, "so, you had her c-section then?" Nope. Here are the pictures of all the proud grandparents and family members from our stay in the hospital...
